The World Bank expects a reduction in the level of poverty in Russia by the end of 2021, but it will exceed the pre-pandemic indicators until 2022, the organization believes.
According to the authors, the government’s social measures have prevented an even greater increase in poverty.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that by 2030 the number of the poor in Russia should decrease by 9.6 million. According to her, a little more than 700 billion rubles are needed to solve the problem of poverty.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, noted that by 2030 the poverty level in the country should be reduced from 13.5 to 6.5%.
