Less than 10% of the world’s population has antibodies to the COVID-19 coronavirus infection. This was stated by the chief researcher of the World Health Organization (WHO) Sumiya Swaminathan.
“WHO is monitoring these sero-epidemiological studies, at the last count, there were about 500 of them. And if we look at them together, it turns out that less than 10% of the world’s population have antibodies to this virus,” she said in interviewposted by WHO on Twitter.
Swaminathan stressed that the only way to obtain herd immunity on a global scale is to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Earlier, an immunologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov, in an interview with FAN, commented on the situation with the pandemic.
