The vaccination campaign opens from Saturday to people aged 70 to 74 years, without comorbidities. They will have the opportunity to be vaccinated directly at their doctor or in a pharmacy, or in a dedicated center after making an appointment.
Vaccination against Covid-19 for all over 70s starts this Saturday, as Emmanuel Macron had announced. This anticipation on the vaccination schedule initially established by the government is made possible thanks to deliveries of doses expected in April. Now, people aged 70 to 74 without comorbidities can finally have access to the vaccine, which represents nearly 3.5 million French people.
The possibility of choosing your vaccine
Those over 70 will be able to choose their vaccine, it all depends on where they decide to be vaccinated. If it’s at the doctor’s or at the pharmacy it will be the AstraZeneca. On the other hand, if it is in a vaccination center, it will be the Pfizer or the Moderna, messenger RNA vaccines.
Registration sites already full for several weeks
In these centers, registrations have already started two days ago on the sante.fr site or on Doctolib. But beware, for latecomers, don’t expect to get an appointment within the hour: in many cities you have to wait more than a month to get a slot.
And for good reason, the registration sites were taken by storm: Doctolib recorded 80% more requests compared to last week, with a record Thursday: 480,000 appointments taken in a single day.
