“We must expand the vaccination campaign as quickly as possible”, asks Nicolas Bouzou

Vaccination against Covid-19 should take a new turn in April thanks to the enlargement of the French people concerned and the opening of the vaccinodrome. An acceleration greeted by economist Nicolas Bouzou, invited Saturday from Europe 1, who has been defending for several months the idea of an express and large-scale campaign.

Vaccination against Covid-19 accelerates on Saturday. People aged 70 to 74 without comorbidities now have access to the vaccine, i.e. nearly 3.5 million additional French people. In parallel, the first vaccinodromes, large centers which should make it possible to massively vaccinate the French against Covid-19, opened this weekend. “We will receive a lot of doses in the coming weeks, we have to go quickly. Vaccination is not a marathon, it’s a speed race,” said economist Nicolas Bouzou, guest of Europe 1 on Saturday. He welcomes the acceleration of the French campaign, “the only solution to get out of the economic and social crisis”.

“It is urgent to open more widely”

He also brings his “full support” to the mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, who on Friday drew the government’s remonstrances by opening vaccination in his city to all over 50 years. The councilor affirmed that all over 75 years who wanted to be vaccinated have already received at least a first dose. “It is normal that there is an order, that we vaccinate the most fragile first. But if the priority volunteers have received a dose, it is urgent to open more widely.” He adds: “We must congratulate the mayors who go quickly, not restrict them.”
