Jonas Vingegaard also won the fourth stage in the International Cycling Week Coppi-Bartali on Friday. The Jumbo-Visma rider strengthened his leading position in the rankings with one more ride to go.
After a hilly ride in San Marino, the 24-year-old Vingegaard was the fastest sprinter of a first group of about 25 riders. Spaniard Javier Romo finished second and Australian Nick Schultz finished third.
Vingegaard also won the second stage of the Italian stage race on Wednesday. He has been wearing the leader’s jersey ever since.
The Dane booked his third victory of 2021 on Friday. Jumbo-Visma has nine victories this season.
The International Cycling Week Coppi-Bartali, which is not a WorldTour race, will end on Saturday with another hilly stage.
