Mercedes’ Finnish star was Fifth in Friday’s second practice.
Mercedes Valtteri Bottas was the second in the first practice of the Bahrain gp, which opens the Formula One season, and the Fifth in the second. The difference to practice day one, Red Bull Max Verstappeniin 0.371 seconds left.
– First of all, it must be said that it was better than in the tests. Okay so, but at the same time it also felt like we weren’t quite where to keep the car in balance. No bigger problems, but quite a bit of work still needs to be done if we want to fight (on Saturday) for pole position and victory in the (Sunday) race, Bottas summed up.
Bottas said at the end of the second training session on stable radio that the car was “unfit to drive.”
– Yeah, the last long draw was pretty uneven, and I didn’t get really decent laps when the car was, as I said, at times unusable. A little sählink, but this was Friday and that’s why we’re training, Bottas acknowledged his comments.
Red Bullin along with the opening day of the season was tinted by McLaren, who Lando Norris was the second fastest and Daniel Ricciardo Sixth after Bottas.
Norris had a difference to Verstappen of only 0.095 seconds. Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton was fourth in the first practice and third in the second, he was 0.235 seconds behind Verstappen.
– We are involved in the patterns, definitely. McLaren looked pretty strong, that’s true. Red Bull was as expected. We’re involved, we’re not the Fastest at the moment but we’re not very far away, and we have a clear goal we want to reach, Bottas spun around.
– Oh, how much better then in time? Do you want an exact number? You don’t get it, Bottas laughed at the reporters yet.
– See you tomorrow.
