US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during an interview with CNN that the American side had informed Germany of its position on the construction of Nord Stream 2. Washington intends to continue to build up sanctions against the project, he added.
As Blinken said earlier, firms that are involved in the construction of the pipeline risk being subject to sanctions. The State Department noted that US President Joe Biden considers Nord Stream 2 a bad deal.
At the same time, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, announced the presence of supporters of Nord Stream 2 in NATO. According to him, the organization was unable to work out a common position on the project.
In turn, the Minister of Energy and Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany Peter Altmeier said that he considers it wrong to constantly raise new questions about Nord Stream 2.
