US warns Germany of continued pressure on Nord Stream 2

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during an interview with CNN that the American side had informed Germany of its position on the construction of Nord Stream 2. Washington intends to continue to build up sanctions against the project, he added.

“We think this is a bad idea and it was important for us to be able to tell this directly to our close partner Germany. And this is what I did. Congress is of the same opinion. According to (American. – RT) legislation, we have introduced sanctions against companies that are involved in the construction and are trying to complete the pipeline. We have made it clear that we will continue to do so (escalate sanctions – RT) “, – quotes the words of the American diplomat TASS.

As Blinken said earlier, firms that are involved in the construction of the pipeline risk being subject to sanctions. The State Department noted that US President Joe Biden considers Nord Stream 2 a bad deal.

At the same time, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, announced the presence of supporters of Nord Stream 2 in NATO. According to him, the organization was unable to work out a common position on the project.
