Ex-president Donald Trump has presented a new interpretation of the Epiphany riots in the Washington Capitol building. Trump argued Fox Newsin in an interview that the rioters present only “hugged and kissed” the cops. He tells about it CNN.
The claim can be considered contradictory, as there was widespread violence in the Epiphany riots, several authorities were injured and five people died. A crowd of Trump supporters broke into the Senate Capitol building in an Epiphany in an attempt to block acceptance of the presidential election result.
– There was no danger to anyone in the situation. They went in and they shouldn’t have done that. Some of them went in, hugged and kissed the cops and the guards. They were let in, they turned inside and walked out, Trump painted in a phone interview.
The former president also commented on the Capitol’s new security measures as “shameful” when a barbed wire fence has been erected around the Senate building. However, Trump conceded to the interviewer Laura Ingrahamin the argument that all perpetrators of crimes should be convicted regardless of political background.
Trump supporters who have infiltrated the Senate, as well as far-right members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, have been arrested and charged with suspicion of Epiphany events. At least two lawsuits have been filed against Trump himself in connection with inciting riots.
