Today, Tuesday, the World Health Organization announced that the experts it sent to China to investigate the origin of the new Corona virus (Covid-19) epidemic will publish their report prepared with Chinese experts “most likely” next week, not this week.
“The report is not yet ready,” Christian Lindmeier, spokesman for the organization, said during a press statement in Geneva.
He added, “What we hear from the members of the mission is that the report will likely be published next week.”
The world is eagerly waiting to read the report’s conclusions. The WHO had announced at first that the expert team that stayed for four weeks in Wuhan would quickly publish an initial report before the final report. This was abandoned, however, without giving clear explanations. Then the Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced on March 5 that the report would be published on March 15, promising to inform member states of it before it is published.
The World Health Organization, in a resolution adopted in May 2020, was mandated by member states to study the origin of the SARS-Cove-2 virus, which causes the Covid-19 epidemic, in cooperation with Chinese experts.
The selection of specialists took a lot of time, and international experts acclaimed by their counterparts in their various specializations were not able to go to China until last January after long talks between Beijing and the World Health Organization.
