Nikolai Korchunov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, senior official of the Arctic Council from Russia, announced the growing interest of international business in the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR).

He said that “foreign investors are showing great practical interest in Arctic projects, the long-term strategy of which provides for the year-round use of the NSR as the main transport artery for the delivery of products produced or extracted in the Arctic zone to the external market.”
“We see an increased interest in the NSR from cruise operators,” he added.
Earlier, Igor Yushkov, a leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund, a lecturer at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, in an interview with FBA “Economics Today” commented on the prospects for the export of coal along the NSR.
