Historian Isidore Ndaywel is among the experts who have worked on the issue. “ It’s still incredible that we do not have a price that can assess books according to our own criteria. That is to say, works that highlight our local culture and works that can promote the idea and the desire for African renaissance, African unity », He believes.
$ 30,000 endowment
An international jury will be set up. The winner will be announced in November on the International Day of the African Writer. The prize, along with an endowment of $ 30,000, will be awarded on the sidelines of the summit of heads of state. For its first edition, it will only support two languages : French and English.
At the same time, another award, this time national, was instituted and presented. It is the Congolese grand prix du livre which will be awarded to him in September.
