The European Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee has proposed expanding support for Albania to “resist interference” by a number of countries, including Russia. This is stated in the draft resolution contained in the department’s report on the Balkan republic. RT got acquainted with the document.
The committee also emphasizes that the European Union needs to strengthen its partnership with the United States on issues of interaction in the Western Balkans, in particular with the aim of “promoting key reforms, improving governance and achieving regional reconciliation,” the draft resolution emphasizes.
In addition, according to the department, Albania should establish even closer cooperation with the EU and NATO countries in the security sphere, given that Albania intends to join the European Union.
Last year, the US State Department announced that it would provide financial assistance to the Balkans to combat “Russian disinformation.”
