The Ministry of the Economy has quantified precisely the economic impact of the closure of schools.
In a study carried out at the end of January, the Ministry of the Economy revealed that the closure of middle and high schools, in addition to the closure of certain sectors of activity, would entail a total decrease of 10% of economic activity compared to 2019. Added to a closure of non-essential businesses, as is the case in twenty departments on Monday March 29, this closure would cause a loss of activity of 13%. Total closure of schools and businesses non-essential would entail an 18% drop in GDP.

With schools closed, parents can no longer always work.
