After the day of mobilization on Sunday, the deputies began on Monday the examination of the Climate law. Presented as a flagship text by the majority, the bill is considered insufficient by many associations and political parties. Three weeks of heated discussions began in the hemicycle. On the agenda: the abolition of domestic flights in the event of alternatives of less than 2 hours 30 minutes by train, the generalization of vegetarian menus in canteens or the ban on the rental of thermal strainers.

The first to open hostilities: Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Like the ecologist Yannick Jadot, the socialist Anne Hidalgo with whom he signed a forum, the leader of La France insoumise believes that this Climate law misses the point.
« How can we pass a law on the climate without saying a word about the moratorium on international agreements such as CETA and Mercosur? It’s dangerous, because climate change has started. »
The government defends a balanced text
At the front, on the benches reserved for the government, the Minister for the Ecological Transition. Barbara Pompili boasts a balanced, common sense text. She responds blow for blow, to those on the right who are worried about a punitive ecology and to others, on the left, who denounce a minimum text.
« How easy it is to swing slogans! It’s a little more difficult to be able to apply them, to create social harmony around the ecological transition! », Defends the Minister of Ecological Transition.
A debate in the hemicycle which promises to be agitated since 7,250 amendments have been tabled. A debate that also takes place on Twitch. The group of deputies Ecology, Democracy Solidarity will conduct its own discussions for three weeks in parallel with sessions in Parliament, on the most political streaming platform of the moment.
