The source of the infection is still unclear.
In Savonlinna, a rapidly spreading coronavirus infection chain has been identified in the work community. A total of 16 corona infections have occurred in the chain of infection. Some of the infections are follow-on infections found in family members. Sosteri, a consortium of municipalities in the Itä-Savo Hospital District, reports the matter.
Thirteen of the infections were diagnosed on Saturday. On Sunday, tests confirmed three more infections. A total of 21 coronavirus infections have been diagnosed in Savonlinna over the weekend.
– The spread of the virus in the work community has been rapid and due to suspicion of a viral virus, we send samples of the infection chain to THL for sequencing. Results will probably have to wait 1-2 weeks, Chief Medical Officer Jaana Luukkonen Sosterista says.
To date, about a hundred people have been quarantined for the chain of infection. Tracing of the infection continues. The source of the infection is still unclear.
Sosteri will report next time on Monday.
