Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, affirmed the GCC’s support for Egypt’s efforts to restore the navigation movement in the Suez Canal to normal, following the stranding of a container ship while crossing the canal.
In a press release, Al-Hajraf said, “The Council is following with great interest the efforts made by the Arab Republic of Egypt to rescue the container ship” Evergiven “, which ran aground during its transit through the Suez Canal.
Al-Hajraf stressed the Cooperation Council’s support for the efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt to overcome this crisis towards the return of navigation traffic through the Suez Canal to normal at the earliest time.
The delinquent Panamanian container ship “Evergiven” is considered one of the largest container ships in the world, with a length of 400 meters and a width of 59 meters, with a total tonnage of 224 thousand tons with a load of about 120 thousand containers.
