Oil and gas analyst, partner of RusEnergy agency Mikhail Krutikhin commented on the situation with the Suez Canal.
In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, he expressed the opinion that the volume of freight traffic through the canal is too large to be replaced.
“I think that its meaning will not change in any way. In 2018, 5 million barrels per day passed through the Suez Canal. Moreover, world production and consumption amounted to 98 million barrels, ”the expert explained.
At the same time, Krutikhin did not rule out that the work could be resumed by the bypass oil pipeline, which went from the Arabian Peninsula to Ashkelon on the Israeli coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
