Three parties from the Terneuzen municipal council believe that animal welfare should also concern the municipality and argue for measures to improve animal welfare.
The parties propose to take traffic measures to protect animals, for example by temporarily closing roads or placing warning signs for ducks crossing.
Another proposal is to open an information counter where landowners can go with questions about animal welfare and landscape management. In addition, the parties want more attention to be paid to animal welfare by providing information on their own website about reporting animal cruelty.
Council members Ernst Jonker (GroenLinks), Paula Stoker (Terneuzen Sterk) and Laszlo van de Voorde (PvdA) want Terneuzen to ensure the arrival of an animal welfare bill in consultation with veterinarians, the Animal Protection and farmers.
