Tchaikovsky’s music sounded instead of the Russian anthem at the award ceremony for figure skaters Mishina and Gallyamov

During the award ceremony for the winners of the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships in the competition of sports pairs – Russians Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov – instead of the Russian anthem, an excerpt from the First Concert of the composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky sounded.

Mishina and Gallyamov won gold at their debut world championship, ahead of Chinese representatives Sui Wenjing and Han Tsun, who became second, as well as their compatriots Alexander Boykov and Vladimir Kozlovsky, who took third place.

According to the verdict of the International Court of Arbitration in Lausanne, until mid-December 2022, at the World Championships and the Olympic Games, Russian athletes are required to compete without a national flag and anthem.

Earlier it was reported that Mishina and Gallyamov were surprised by their victory at the world championship.
