The police arrested a 26-year-old man from the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in connection with a fatal shooting in the Amsterdam district of Osdorp last October. In addition, a 33-year-old man was killed. According to the police, he may not have been the target.
In the night of 19 to 20 October, the victim was fired at just before 2.00 am while driving between the Vreedenhaven and the Hoekenes. Local residents who heard the shots called the police. The man was resuscitated and taken to a hospital, but died of his injuries there.
The police are strongly aware that the victim was not the target. He had borrowed the car he was driving. After the shooting, a beacon was found under the vehicle, a device with which the car can be tracked. The tracking equipment appears to have been placed under the car on the corner of Nicolaas Beetsstraat and Kinkerstraat five days before the murder.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and is only allowed to have contact with his lawyer.
