The department store company Stockmann will start co-operation negotiations concerning the personnel of all Finnish operations due to the tightened restrictions due to the corona situation and the adverse effects on business.
According to the company’s press release, the aim of the negotiations is to prepare for adjusting the number of personnel to a situation where customers would not be able to do business in department stores due to tighter interest rate restrictions, and to the immediate decrease in turnover due to the situation.
Stockmann’s online store will continue to operate normally, the press release says.
Stockmann will start co-operation negotiations in week 13, which will discuss possible layoffs for up to 90 days in the event that department stores may have to close.
The negotiations cover about 1,200 people in all department stores and support functions in Finland.
