Former leader of the group Police, Sting unveils a new track. The “Cult!” of 20 heures de France 2 looks back on the career of this very popular artist in France.
It is through a duet embodied with Zucchero, composed last summer in Italy, that Sting is making his comeback. Before that, the British artist shone on numerous occasions with his success and his various commitments. “We fought a little bit of war together, we started a first band, I think he remained friends with all the people he knew before becoming Sting”
, tells Henry Padovani, first guitarist of the group Police. At the time, under the singer’s impetus, the group became one of the most popular in the late 1970s and 1980s. But faced with internal rivalries, the leader preferred to escape solo.

Sting is not just a rockstar. At the end of the 1980s, he became involved in various causes such as AIDS, human rights and the protection of virgin forests. In France, he is also known for his successful and varied duets, including Charles Aznavour, Mylène Farmer and more recently Maitre Gims. “I have always loved French culture, the language, the songs, the history of French music, it’s very present in my head”, he confided in an interview last November.
