Russian weightlifters Chen and Bedzhanyan suspended for four years for doping


Two-time European weightlifting champions, Russians Oleg Chen and David Bedzhanyan, have been disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules.

This was reported on the website of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

In June last year, it was reported that the athletes passed positive doping tests. A metabolite of dehydrochloromethyltestosterone was found in the samples. Then the IWF reported that the athletes had been suspended since August 2019 on suspicion of doping.

Chen’s disqualification period starts on November 15, 2017 and expires on November 15, 2021, Bedzhanyan is disqualified until December 9, 2021.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian cyclist Viktor Manakov was disqualified for doping.
