Russian Deputy Defense Minister Fomin attended a military parade in Myanmar – RT in Russian

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense attended the parade in honor of the 76th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Myanmar, it was held in the capital of the country, Naypyidaw.

The military attaches of the ASEAN countries and dialogue partners also took part in the celebrations.

About 8 thousand servicemen marched along the parade ground, almost 200 units of military equipment and 45 units of helicopters and airplanes, including Russian-made ones, were presented.

The day of the formation of the armed forces of Myanmar (Tamado) is the date of the liberation of the republic from Japanese militarism, the Russian defense department noted.

“The visit of the Russian delegation is a response step to the visit by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar in 2020 to the anniversary Victory Parade in Moscow,” the ministry said in a statement to RT.

On March 26, it became known that negotiations between Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin and the Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hline took place in Naypyidaw.
