RFI supports its journalist Pierre Firtion

                While, in recent days, the Togolese press has echoed false information concerning the journalist of RFI's Africa service Pierre Firtion, the management of the channel wishes to make an update.  In a press release published this Friday, March 26, the management of RFI specifies that no disciplinary measure of any kind has been taken against him and that any statement to the contrary is a lie.  The management of RFI gives its full support to Pierre Firtion, who works with great rigor and professionalism.

                                    <p><span><span><span><span><span>Pierre Firtion, who is a reporter for the Africa service of RFI, is the author of an article, dated March 31, 2020, revealing the existence of a letter from French President Emmanuel Macron to Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé.  This letter does exist.  It was after having investigated and verified the authenticity of this letter that RFI published the information.  In writing his article, Pierre Firtion did his job with great rigor and professionalism.  For several months, Pierre Firtion has been targeted by completely unfounded attacks and unbearable threats.</span></span></span><span> RFI expresses its solidarity with him and supports him in the legal follow-up to be given to this case.</span></span></span>
