Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Jews in Russia on Passover, noting the role of Jewish organizations in maintaining the religious, cultural and national values of their ancestors, as well as their contribution to strengthening peace in society.
“This holiday, especially revered by the followers of Judaism … draws believers to the events of deep antiquity – the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery, to the triumph of the ideals of freedom, goodness and justice,” the Kremlin press service quotes the text of the telegram.
Putin noted that Russian Jewish organizations are paying special attention to strengthening the institution of the family and raising young people, maintaining harmony in society and developing international humanitarian ties.
In January, in congratulating Russians on Christmas, Putin noted the contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and other confessions to strengthening families, educating generations and maintaining interethnic dialogue.
