Senator Alexei Pushkov assessed the retaliatory sanctions introduced earlier by China against the United States and Canada.
According to Pushkov, restrictive measures will be effective only if “they affect major projects and the interests of American business.”
On March 22, the US, EU, UK and Canada imposed sanctions on China for “violating Uyghur rights” in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
China has announced retaliatory sanctions against ten people and four organizations from the European Union for Brussels’ interference in the affairs of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Also, Beijing has imposed sanctions against the UK.
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called such a retaliatory step by China unacceptable.
