The head coach of the Russian national football team Stanislav Cherchesov spoke about the tactical plan for the game against the leader of the Slovenian team, Josip Ilicic, in the qualifying match for the 2022 FIFA World Cup;
“It is clear that players of such a level as Ilicic cannot be completely turned off. But what we had in mind worked. And where is his individual class, he showed. There were moments when it was difficult to contain him. He scored a beautiful ball, performed it superbly. Again, the tactical model that we have chosen has played its role, “said Cherchesov after the match.
Josip Ilicic scored the only goal of the Slovenian national team in the match, which ended with the victory of the Russian team with a score of 2: 1.
