At the end of February, weekend confinement had entered into force in Nice, on the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes and in the agglomeration of Dunkirk (North). A month later, it was time for the first assessment.
Saturday February 27, Nice and the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes began their first weekend under local confinement. A month later, the situation remains tense in the intensive care unit of the city’s university hospital (CHU): 24 patients are hospitalized and require constant vigilance. However, for the past week, intensive care admissions have been declining. Every morning, the head of the service identifies the beds available in all hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes. On Saturday March 27, the news is encouraging: 15 places have become available.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, confined for a month, the incidence rate of Covid-19 has fallen. It now stands at 413 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. For the people of Nice, it is confirmation that their efforts are paying off. “To continue the efforts a little to have a quiet summer, that may be necessary”, admits a resident. In the agglomeration of Dunkirk (North), which has also been subject to these restrictions since the end of February, the incidence rate has been halved in one month.
