North Korea considers Biden’s response to its missile tests a “provocation” – politics – news

North Korea considered US President Joe Biden’s criticism of its missile tests this week a wrong first step, in a statement published by state media yesterday.

On Thursday, Pyongyang tested what it described as “new tactical guided missiles”, in a show of strength for the new US administration.

Japan and South Korea said they were short-range ballistic missiles.

Biden said yesterday that he is ready for diplomacy, but this dialogue must be conditional on the ultimate goal of nuclear disarmament by Pyongyang, and he pledged to respond if the rogue nuclear state continues to escalate tensions.

Ri Byung Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the North Korean Workers’ Party, described Biden’s remarks as a “provocation” and a “clear violation of our nation’s right to self-defense.”

“I think the new US administration has taken its first step wrong,” the official North Korean News Agency quoted Rhee as saying.
