Montenegro is still clear after two matches in the World Cup qualifying pool of the Dutch national team. The Montenegrins won on Saturday with convincing figures from Gibraltar: 4-1.
Montenegro broke the spell after 26 minutes via Fatos Beqiraj, but four minutes later Gibraltar came surprisingly on the same level due to a utilized penalty kick from Reece Styche.
Before half time, Montenegro put things in order through Marko Simic, after which Zarko Tomasevic won the 3-1. Stevan Jovetic, former Manchester City player, set the final score at 4-1 in the final phase.
Due to the victory over Gibraltar, Montenegro is currently in the lead with six points in group G. On Wednesday, the number 63 of the FIFA rankings won 1-2 against Latvia, which is the opponent of the Dutch national team on Saturday evening. Orange will meet Gibraltar in the mini-state on Tuesday.
In group H, Russia triumphed 2-1 against Slovenia. Artem Dzyuba was the celebrated man among the Russians with two goals, who also achieved the maximum score in the World Cup qualifying series after two duels.
