He is nicknamed “Chacho”. Luis Raul Castro Valenzuela, an alleged member of the famous Mexican Sinaloa cartel, has held an American hostage for a year to push a group of American dealers to repay a debt, the US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday (March 30).

This woman, only identified by the letters ND, was taken hostage in January 2020 and released only last month after a Mexican police raid in Culiacan, which also led to the arrest of Luis Raul Castro Valenzuela. She was found “in good health”, specified the department.

Luis Raul Castro Valenzuela has been indicted by the Mexican courts for his role in the Sinaloa cartel, but the US Department of Justice is asking for his extradition, so that he can be tried in the United States.

As part of the investigation, a Delaware resident named Jamar Jackson along with a second man and two women have been charged with drug and gun related offenses. The woman had been kidnapped to force Jamar Jackson to continue distributing Castro Valenzuela’s drugs, according to Delaware Federal Attorney David Weiss.

“The victim’s safety and his eventual return depended on continued payments made by Jamar Jackson and others to repay a large drug debt.”, did he declare. Authorities said the investigation led to the seizure of heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine and twelve firearms worth more than $ 1 million.
