Lewandowski absent against PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League

Bayern Munich star striker Robert Lewandowski will not be present against PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals, due to a knee injury.

What if, this year, luck was with PSG? Often deprived of its star players at key moments of the season, the capital club just learned on Tuesday that Bayern Munich star striker Robert Lewandowski will miss both matches of the Champions League quarter-final due to of an injury with the Polish selection, announced Tuesday his club.

Lewandowski is already 35 league goals this season!

“Lewa” suffers from “a ligament sprain in the right knee” and will be unavailable “for about four weeks,” the club said. He will therefore miss the duel against PSG, go on April 7 to Munich, return on April 13 to Paris. It is a blow for Bayern, which loses its top scorer for the revenge of the last final of C1, won by the German club against PSG (1-0). Already scorer of 35 league goals this season, Lewandowski is only five lengths behind Gerd Müller’s record, 40 Bundesliga goals in 1971-1972.

Lewandowski came out injured in the 63rd minute of the 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Andorra (won 3-0) on Sunday to return to his club for treatment. He had withdrawn from Poland’s match against England, scheduled for Wednesday, and the Polish federation (PZPN) initially mentioned at least five to ten days of treatment. The previous Wednesday, the striker had played the entire match in Hungary, where he scored the third goal for “Biale Cervoni” (3-3).
