Jacques Audiard’s film “A Prophet” soon to be adapted into a TV series


The American site Variety reveals that the film by Jacques Audiard “A prophet” will be adapted in series. This story of the journey of a young 19-year-old prisoner will be told over 10 episodes, with several changes from the film which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.

This is the film that revealed actor Tahar Rahim to the general public. a prophet, directed by Jacques Audiard, will be adapted in series for television, according to information from the American site Variety. This adaptation in French will decline over ten episodes the story of a 19-year-old young man sentenced to six years in prison and who will harden himself in contact with a group of inmates who make the law in the penal establishment. Present on the film, screenwriters Abdel Raouf Dafri and Nicolas Peufaillit and producer Marco Cherqui will also be in this series.

The story of a young Franco-Comorian

But this adaptation of the film which won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2009 will not be a carbon copy. The plot of the series is transferred from a Parisian prison to a Marseille prison. The character played by Tahar Rahim becomes that of a Franco-Comorian hero.

The plot of the series, which will take place in the current era, will also stage the clash between the Arab community and the Comorian community within the prison. The final cast has not yet been released.
