Denis Thuriot, mayor (LREM) of Nevers (Nièvre), was the guest of the 23h of franceinfo, Friday March 26. The elected official took the opportunity to take stock of the epidemic situation in his town and, more broadly, within his department.
Like the Rhône and the Aube, the Nièvre will pass, from Friday March 26 at midnight, under reinforced restrictive measures. The epidemic situation is particularly worrying in this department, as Denis Thuriot recognizes. “Our contamination rate is increasing very quickly”, recognizes the mayor (LREM) of Nevers, guest of franceinfo 23h on Friday evening.
“This sudden increase is quite incomprehensible”, he adds, specifying that the department of Nièvre is not, unlike other severely affected territories, very densely populated. If he says he understands the disappointment of his fellow citizens in relation to these new restrictive measures, the city councilor insists that “It’s more a protection than a punishment. And it must last a little longer, while we increase the rate of vaccination.”
