Nicolas Bay, MEP National Rally, is not convinced by the strengthening of the European Commission’s export control mechanism: “We’ve been trampled for three months” by the United Kingdom which “keep your doses of AstraZeneca”, he laments on franceinfo on Saturday March 27. “It’s been three months since it should have been done. According to Nicolas Bay, France “is locked in a straitjacket” European who “does not defend our interests”. “The United Kingdom is the most advanced of the countries of the European continent because it has the capacity to act autonomously”, since he left the European Union. For the RN MEP, the EU is “faulty on all floors”.

“We had the financial crisis in 2008, the European Union was absent. We had the migration crisis in 2015, it was absolutely incapable of protecting our external borders. Today, we have a health crisis.” However, Nicolas Bay never puts forward the idea of France leaving the European Union: “I’m not saying that, I’m saying we have to change everything”.

Regarding orders for vaccines against Covid-19, the MEP believes that “States must be allowed to organize themselves with cooperation.” Nicolas Bay points out in particular the “30,000 civil servants” of the European Commission, to the “very heavy bureaucracy”, and that “do not take into account the reality on the ground”, according to him. He points “the failure of Emmanuel Macron who was unable to defend our interests in the European Council”.
