Yesterday, the Indian authorities announced that 62,714 cases of Coronavirus had been recorded within 24 hours, in the highest daily toll since mid-October.
The data showed that 312 deaths from the virus were recorded, bringing the daily death toll to the highest level since Christmas.
The authorities of the western state of Maharashtra imposed a night curfew, the night before last, to cope with a record rise in the number of “Covid-19” cases, as the financial capital Mumbai recorded 6,123 new infections.
“We are seeing a higher rate of (Covid) injuries in high-rise residential buildings compared to slums … to prevent spread, only necessary services will be allowed,” said Mumbai Mayor Kishore Bidnikar, adding that hotels and shopping centers should abide by the night curfew rules.
