2021 World Figure Skating Champion Anna Shcherbakova answered the question about the number of quadruple jumps that could secure gold medal in women’s singles at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
“When I was preparing for the World Championship, I understood that this was the most important tournament for me. I wanted to perform with my maximum three quarters. But in the process of preparation, its own difficulties arose. I had to change everything. I realized that I had to discard maximalism to squeeze everything possible out of the situation. I didn’t get a quadruple clean, but I struggled to the end for every element, ”Shcherbakova said at a press conference.
She noted that she will do her best to be in maximum shape next season.
“I will try to approach with the maximum amount. Quads are definitely needed at the Olympics, because the level of competition is very high, ”the figure skater added.
