HSL published instructions for passengers on strike days – see the list of alternative travel methods – Domestic

To prevent bus congestion, HSL urges people to avoid public transport on Thursday and Friday if possible.

The metropolitan area and commuter train traffic in southern Finland is almost completely cut off on Thursday and Friday due to a strike by locomotive drivers. The two-day strike affects the business and school trips of many southern Finns. HSL said in the past that it would therefore increase alternative bus connections.

To avoid bus congestion, HSL urges people to avoid public transport during the strike if possible. For those who need to use the public, it is published on HSL’s website instructions.

As commuter trains are disabled on Thursday and Friday, HSL recommends that users of the Itinerary mobile app or website disable commuter trains as a mode of travel. This will make it easier to find alternative ways to travel.

Here’s how to hide commuter trains as a mode of travel on the Route Guide’s website:

Search for a route in the Itinerary and open the Settings menu in the route search.

  • A new Settings field opens next to it, where you can remove a specific vehicle from the searches using the slider menu. Leave the modes you want your search to appear on.

  • Close the menu. The new settings are automatically saved in the search. The route guide now shows alternative connections to the route you are searching for.

Here’s how the same thing works with HSL’s mobile app:

Search for the desired route in the HSL Route Guide and open the Settings menu in route search.

  • From the Settings page, you can use the slider menu to remove a specific vehicle from your searches. Leave the modes you want your search to appear on.

  • Close the menu with the Done key. The route guide now shows alternative connections to the route you are searching for.
