At the end of this season, Feyenoord says goodbye to Stanley Brard, who works as head of the youth academy at the Rotterdam club. His expiring contract will not be renewed.
Brard would have blundered this week with a wrongly sent e-mail. He reportedly wanted to advise Feyenoord director Mark Koevermans to send youth trainers Ulrich van Gobbel, Melvin Boel, Remco Schol and Mark Onderwater away. But he sent the mail according to ESPN by mistake not to Koevermans but to Onderwater.
Feyenoord does not state a reason for departure in a statement on the club website. Brard was head of the juegd school for twelve years over two periods.
“I would have liked to continue for one or more years. Nevertheless, I look back on my time at Varkenoord with great pleasure,” says 62-year-old Brard.
Technical director Frank Arnesen calls the former left back “a real Feyenoord man through and through”. “Brard has achieved wonderful successes here as a player of the 1983/1984 championship team and as a trainer”, says Arnesen.
“Under his leadership, Feyenoord Academy was the showpiece of the youth academies in the Netherlands. That’s not nothing and Feyenoord should be very grateful to him for that. Our task is to find a worthy successor for him who can further develop the youth academy.”
