Hauts-de-France is facing a record number of hospitalizations, including in intensive care units. Explanations from Lille (North), with journalist Claire Colnet.
Hospital staff in northern France are sounding the alarm, fearing they will not be able to withstand the third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic. “They are preparing for a particularly complicated time”
, indicates the journalist Claire Colnet, in duplex from Lille (North). “Despite the increase in the number of intensive care beds, despite the many transfers of patients, the pressure on hospitals has never been so strong in Hauts-de-France”
, she continues.
Currently, more than 3,300 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the region, including 609 in intensive care units. “Figures that exceed those of the first and second waves”, specifies Claire Colnet. And to conclude: “The new British variant is circulating in a particularly active way. Hauts-de-France continues to take the full brunt of this third wave of the epidemic.”
