International striker Ali Mabkhout scored three goals (hat-trick), his third during the current season, to lead his team Al-Jazira to a difficult victory over his rival Fujairah 4-2 yesterday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, in the 21st round of the Arab Gulf Football League.
It is the third triple for international striker Ali Mabkhout during the current season after he scored against Al Dhafra in the 15th round, which is the match that ended 5-1, while he scored in the 16th round against Ittihad Kalba, the match that the team decided with a clean sixth, and became the striker.
The match was on its way to a 2-2 draw, a result that did not serve the island’s chances of competing for the title, but Ali Mabkhout appeared in the final minutes and scored two goals in the 89th and 90 + 7 minutes to give his team the three points that secured their lead in the competition table with 47 points.
Returning to the match, Al-Jazira defender Khalifa Al Hammadi rose high and switched the corner ball from his colleague Khalfan Mubarak to settle in the goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Tamimi, and Ali Mabkhout added the second goal in the 24th minute from a penalty kick.
Fujairah scored the goal of reducing the difference from an organized attack in which the players showed high skill before Bilal Youssef found himself facing goalkeeper Ali Khasif and easily put him in the net in the 34th minute.
The guests equalized in the 47th minute by Mohamed Mostafa from a header, but Al Jazira showed his cohesion in the final minutes, so Ali Mabkhout managed to score the third goal in the 89th minute, and the same player returned and added the fourth goal in the 90 + 7 minute.
