Kajsa Ollongren (D66) and Annemarie Jorritsma (VVD) have promised to give an explanation to the new House of Representatives about the collapsed reconnaissance next week. They stopped immediately on Thursday as scouts after a photographer of it ANP photographed confidential notes that Ollongren held under her arm.
Jorritsma says via Twitter “it goes without saying that she is willing to give an explanation to the House of Representatives next week”. Ollongren also says that she is “happy to do this”.
The photographed documents stated, among other things, “position Omtzigt, function elsewhere”. For years, CDA MP Pieter Omtzigt stuck hard in the file of the benefits affair. Due to the critical investigation report that followed, the cabinet resigned in January. Omtzigt has been home exhausted for a few weeks now.
A majority of the House of Representatives, including CDA, but also VVD and D66, demanded a debate to clarify the sensitive notes. They want to know how they ended up on the document.
Chamber president Khadija Arib has also said that she wants “as complete a report as possible” from Jorritsma and Ollongren. In addition, she called on the retired scouts to provide an explanation in the new House of Representatives next week, which will be installed on 31 March.
It is still unclear whether Ollongren, who tested positive for the corona virus on Thursday, can actually come to the Chamber. That depends, among other things, on whether she has any complaints.
