Former head of the US Center for Diseases spoke about the origin of the coronavirus

Former director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), virologist Robert Redfield, in an interview with CNN, expressed the opinion that the spread of the new type of coronavirus began with a “Chinese laboratory” in Wuhan.

As Redfield suggested, the virus could begin to be transmitted “around September-October in Wuhan.”

“This is my feeling, just an opinion. Now I can have an opinion, ”he said.

According to the virologist, the coronavirus could have left the laboratory by accident, however, as the material emphasizes, there is still no solid evidence of the laboratory leak theory.

“Others don’t believe it, that’s okay. Science will figure it out eventually. It is not uncommon for the respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in the laboratory to infect laboratory workers, ”said the former head of the CDC.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden announced that he had his own theories about the origin of coronavirus infection, but he intends to wait until the scientific community makes a conclusion on this matter.

The report of an international group of experts from the World Health Organization on a trip to China’s Wuhan to investigate the origin of the coronavirus has been written and is scheduled to be released in the coming days.
