The Scottish Football Association FA suspended five Rangers FC players for six games on Tuesday for violating corona rules. The five attended an illegal party last month.
These are goalkeeper Brian Kinnear, defenders Nathan Patterson (photo) and Calvin Bassey, midfielder Bongani Zungu and forward Dapo Mebude. They previously received a fine from their club.
Kinnear, Patterson, Bassey, Zungu and Mebude attended a party to be ended by the police in mid-February. They were then de-selected for the first leg at Royal Antwerp FC in the second round of the Europa League.
“We are very disappointed with them. We are resolving this internally and the players involved are fined. They are not welcome at the club for the moment due to isolation, but after that I will have a heartfelt word with each of them. I feel happy. abandoned, “said Rangers manager Steven Gerrard at the time.
It was not the first time that Rangers players have not adhered to the corona rules. In November, defender George Edmundson and forward Jordan Jones were suspended for seven games for violating them.
Nevertheless, Rangers is experiencing a great season from a sporting point of view. The team from Glasgow became national champions for the first time since 2011 at the beginning of this month. Rangers thus ended the hegemony of Celtic, which took the title for the past nine years.
