Fernando Alonso was given a chance to change things around.
Double world champion Fernando Alonso returned to F1 tracks in a strong way.
Alonso got to be largely out of the biggest headlines over the weekend as he’s back in the middle gear car again.
However, the 39-year-old Spaniard drove some great time trials and was 9th. Early in the race, Alonso’s striking ability seemed good, but then he started to clot and eventually had to stop.
CEO of the Alonson team, which changed its name from Renault to Alpine Marcin Budkowski Alonso said Alonso ‘s car had a technical problem in the past, but the situation worsened after the second depot stop.
An unfortunate coincidence ruined Alonso’s race when the cooling of the brakes came to be disturbed by something not belonging to it:
– The sandwich wrapping paper got stuck in the brake channel, which raised the temperatures and damaged the brakes. We suspended his race for safety reasons, Budkowski said in a team release.
– A really unfortunate opening race from Fernando when you think about how strong he looked.
Two Alonso, who was out of the F1 series last season, returned to his old stable as he competed with Renault in 2003-2006 and 2008-09. The 2005-06 world champion’s contract with the French manufacturer is for two years.
