A senior European Union official announced today, Friday, that the European Union will not allow the shipment of doses of AstraZeneca vaccine produced in the countries of the bloc to any other place until the company fulfills the contracts for delivery.
“We have the tools and … we will make sure that everything stays in Europe until the company returns to its commitments,” Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market, said in a press conference broadcast live in Spain.
The European Commission has tightened the control system for the export of vaccines since Wednesday, although every delivery has yet to be individually banned by the member state concerned and the executive branch of the European Union.
