The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed amended in a statement today, Saturday, the death toll from a two train collision in Sohag Governorate, south of Cairo, to 19 from 32.
The number of injured in the accident, which occurred on Friday, rose to 185 from 165.
The official Middle East News Agency quoted the minister as saying that two bodies were reported from the scene of the accident, while the reporter was in a coma as a result of head injuries accompanied by internal bleeding, which initially caused the announcement of 32 deaths.
The Egyptian Public Prosecutor, Hamada El-Sawy, ordered an investigation into the accident, which occurred near the city of Tahta, about 365 km from the capital.
