The controversy around the financing of a mosque by the ecological town hall of Strasbourg takes a judicial turn: Europe Ecologie Les Verts (EELV) announced on Saturday March 27 its intention to file a defamation complaint against the French Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin and its Deputy Minister Marlène Schiappa. It had notably accused the environmentalist town halls of " flirt more and more dangerously with the theses of radical Islamism ».

There is no longer any question for Europe Écologie-Les Verts (EELV) of allowing accusations that the party considers unfair at best, at worst defamatory. : for lack of having obtained an apology, it is therefore in court that the party will explain itself with Gérald Darmanin and Marlène Schiappa.
« It has been several weeks already, the same people in the government who are beating the environmentalists, explains Sandra Regol, spokesperson for the movement. This was already the case a few days ago during the case of meals given in the canteens of Lyon, it is today the case with a deliberation in Strasbourg. Each time, the strategy is the same: try to develop a little music that sounds like we are dangerous. But the joke has gone on long enough. »
A decision also motivated by the death threats allegedly received the mayor of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian. Evidence for EELV that the framework of the democratic debate has been crossed by some members of the government, even as the country faces other emergencies
« If they could act a little more really on the ground, to fight the pandemic, maybe they would have a little less time to mess with environmentalists », Continues Sandra Regol.
Environmentalists also believe that their good scores in the last municipal and European elections are not unrelated to the attacks from the government … And this within a year of the presidential election.
“EELV will file a defamation complaint against Marlène Schiappa and Gérald Darmanin. We made the decision last night and the complaint will be filed within the next week. »Https://t.co/3waBe5zZsi
