This is not quite what we expected from the reigning world champions. The Blues must be satisfied with a draw (1-1) against Ukraine, Wednesday March 24 at the Stade de France (Seine-Saint-Denis), for their first meeting of the qualifiers for the 2022 Football World Cup Antoine Griezmann had however opened the scoring for the France team, thanks to a curling strike of the left foot in the 18th minute. But Ukraine came back to score in the second half, after a home goal from Presnel Kimpembe.
Antoine Griezmann climbed to fourth place in the ranking of the best scorers in the history of the France team, scoring his 34th goal with the Blues. At 30, FC Barcelona striker is getting closer to Michel Platini (third with 41 goals), Olivier Giroud (44 goals) and record holder Thierry Henry (51 goals scored between 1997 and 2010).
